Nelumbo in the Korea

Nelumbo

The origin of lotus flowers is India. As a perennial plant, the subterranean stem creeps in the soil, and by the end of autumn, the end of the plant grows to form lotus root. The leaves are in the shape of a round shield, and flowers bloom at the end of a long peduncle from the water in July-August. There are 4-5 calyx pieces, with several petals.

The fruit is called lotus rice, and it is edible and medicated along with the lotus root, which is an underground stem. The skin is very hard, so it may only germinate after hundreds of years. There are many in swamps, ponds, rice fields, etc. It is used as edible and medicinal materials from lotus flowers to fruits, leaves, and roots.
